EMERGENCY PLAN
Fire Drill
Monthly fire drills will be practiced, recorded and posted. The Manager will shout “FIRE DRILL” and everyone will exit and gather at the primary meeting place as indicated on the posted evacuation plan. An evacuation pack with emergency supplies and information will be taken on the drills.
Earthquake Drills
Regular earthquake drills will be practiced and recorded. The Manager will shout “EARTHQUAKE DRILL” and everyone will move towards the inside wall or go under a table. Everyone will crouch low, cover their heads and hold until the Manager proclaims “ALL CLEAR”. Emergency supplies will be checked for accessibility and any expired items will be replaced.
What Steps Need to be Taken
In the case of a real disaster after the shaking has stopped, the Manager will assess the building for safety. If safe, emergency supplies will be accessed as needed and provisions to stay in the building will be made. The battery powered radio will be turned on to await any instructions for evacuation and location of emergency shelters/reception centres.
If evacuation is necessary, the evacuation pack and emergency supplies will be taken to the secondary meeting place which is: Child Care Provider’s Vehicle which parked at the carport or next door our neighbour which is within walking distance of the facility. If instructed by the authorities we will proceed to the designated emergency shelter/reception centre. A note will be left on the Centre door stating where we have relocated to.
Out of Area Contact
As soon as possible the manager will attempt to contact parents. If the phone lines are down and if the long distance lines come back on first, the manager will contact the out of area person and leave a message for the parents. The parents are to keep the out of area person’s phone number with them at all times so they will be able to pick up any emergency messages.
The out of area contact is: 519-998-9208, 226-789-9208
Phone number is: Miso Park, Byung Jun Kim
